Last Sunday I had a wonderful time photographing the in-studio taping of some of our best chefs in the Southwest at PBS Eight. I’m so fortunate that shooting for the magazine allows me to pick and choose the best culinary events!

Eight chefs prepared signature dishes from a great new Arizona cookbook titled “100 Years, 100 recipes, 100 Chefs” before a live studio audience.

Chef Silvana Esparza of Barrio Cafe and Barrio Queen, wowed the crowd with her amazing Chiles En Nogada.
The November issue of Esquire magazine has just named Barrio Queen as one of the “Best New Restaurants in Americaā€¯.

Barbara Fenzel, noted cookbook author and culinary teacher, hosted. The list of top chefs included James Beard Award-winning Chris Bianco of Pizzeria Bianco. His roasted eggplant parmigiana looked almost too good to eat. But I ate it anyway.

Chef Nobuo Fuduka (Nobuo at Teeter House) another James Beard Award winner, had the crowd applauding and drooling.

Chef Nobuo’s cured salmon with basil oil…incredible.

From Binkley to Tarbell, the chefs were so fabulous!

The show will air Tuesday, November 27 at 7 pm on PBS Eight.
